Reasons which were responsible for series cancellation

Well, yesterday was 16th May and this was not an ordinary day for me at least. Reason being that is because last year on the same day, Crossing Jordan finale was aired.
This May, I’m with Power Rangers episodes (as the show is my fave). On 16th May, 2007 season 6 finale was aired and after that we never seen any episode from Crossing Jordan series. Do you know what the reason for cancellation was? Was it good to cancel the series after 6 successful seasons? How long running series can be cancelled?
Well, I do know all that and the reason for cancellation was Bad ratings. Season 6 didn’t get good ratings so the creators decided to say good bye to show. But I’m unable to understand why bad ratings for good series and when story and characters were good and concept of the show was very well written.
Will it be back ever? Nay, it doesn’t seem. One year had been spent without Crossing Jordan episodes and we all are missing the series. But what to do as I think series will never come……..
